Help us automate textile production
ADOTC develops automated solutions for textile and apparel production. As a young team in Berlin, we work with short decision paths, a lot of responsibility and direct influence on technology and product.
Internships and theses
We are continuously looking for students for internships and Bachelor's or Master's theses. Start date and duration by arrangement.
Internship / Thesis: Robotic Sewing Cells, Design and Prototyping (m/f/d)
Robots can assemble cars, but they fail when it comes to T-shirts. Textiles slip, crease, stretch and bend. At ADOTC we build the robotic sewing cells that change this. In this role you design the hardware that makes fabric handleable for robots. An idea that starts on your screen today can be sewing on the robot just a few days later.
What you will do
- Design grippers, fixtures and assemblies for our robotic sewing cells in CAD
- Turn your designs into prototypes quickly, e.g. via 3D printing
- Test your prototypes directly on the machine and iterate
- Make existing components lighter, more robust and more cost-efficient
- Prepare designs for manufacturing
What you bring
- Current studies in mechanical engineering, mechatronics, robotics and automation, textile and clothing technology, industrial engineering or a related field
- Experience with a CAD system (e.g. SolidWorks, Inventor or Fusion 360)
- A passion for tinkering and building, and a hands-on mindset
- Good command of English or German
What we offer
- Work on industrial robots and sewing systems
- Results that matter: your designs flow directly into our next machine generation
- A cheerful, creative and dynamic team in which you can contribute your strengths from day one
- Early responsibility and room for your own ideas
Internship / Thesis: Robot Trials, Data Analysis and Machine Optimization (m/f/d)
Sewing individual fabric parts together is still mostly done by hand, because there is no economical, scalable all-in-one automation solution yet. ADOTC is building it. In this role you run the experiments that make our robotic sewing cells faster, more precise and more reliable, and you implement the improvements yourself.
What you will do
- Plan test series and run them yourself on the robot and the sewing cell
- Capture process data such as cycle time, seam quality and failure patterns
- Analyze the data systematically and identify the levers for improvement
- Implement the optimizations directly on the machine
What you bring
- Current studies in mechanical engineering, mechatronics, robotics and automation, textile and clothing technology, industrial engineering or a related field
- Enthusiasm for robotics and a structured way of working
- A love of data (e.g. Excel or Python)
- A hands-on mindset: you want to touch things, try them out and make them better
- Good command of English or German
What we offer
- Work on industrial robots and sewing systems
- Results that matter: your findings flow directly into our next machine generation
- A cheerful, creative and dynamic team in which you can learn a lot from day one
- Early responsibility and room for your own ideas
Thesis: Service Model for Asia (m/f/d)
Our sewing robots are heading to Asia. But who helps when something jams there? For our robotic sewing cells to run reliably in Asia, we need a service model that works across thousands of kilometers, different time zones and local conditions. In your thesis you develop it: from a systematic failure analysis to an actionable service concept together with robot and sewing machine manufacturers.
Your topic: From failure modes to a service concept
- System analysis: Get to know the structure and modules of our sewing cell (industrial robot, sewing machine, grippers, sensors, controls and software) and analyze the conditions in Asia, such as distance, spare parts logistics, customs and local staff.
- Failure analysis with FMEA: Systematically identify which failures can occur on the machine, what causes and effects they have and how critical they are.
- Service concept: Derive suitable measures: preventive maintenance, a spare and wear parts strategy, remote maintenance and support, training for local technicians and clear service levels with escalation tiers and response times.
- Supplier integration: Reach out to robot and sewing machine manufacturers, analyze their service networks in Asia and develop models for integrating them, including tasks, interfaces and responsibilities.
- Business case: Assess costs and benefits of the options and show how the service fits into our Automation-as-a-Service business model.
Your result: An actionable service concept for Asia that we will apply directly with our first customers there.
What you bring
- Current studies in business administration or economics, industrial engineering, mechanical engineering, mechatronics, production engineering, textile and clothing technology, logistics or a related field
- First experience with quality methods, ideally FMEA
- A structured, analytical way of working and an eye for both technology and costs
- Interest in international markets and in working with manufacturers
- Very good command of English, German is a plus
What we offer
- Bachelor's or Master's thesis, starting immediately, close supervision coordinated with your university
- A topic with direct practical impact: your concept will be applied directly in Asia
- Access to our sewing cells, test data and the know-how of the team
- Direct contact with robot and sewing machine manufacturers
- A cheerful, creative and dynamic team with plenty of responsibility
Thesis: Growth meets robotics (m/f/d)
Our sewing robots are ready for the market. But where do they pay off most? Find out with us!
ADOTC is an impact-driven start-up based in Berlin. We are working to fundamentally change textile production through automation, robotics, and AI in order to make it more sustainable. Our robotic sewing cells automatically sew fabric parts together and are offered as Automation-as-a-Service. Inquiries reach us from many industries and countries. Now it is about setting the right priorities: which customers benefit most, what is automation worth, and which partners open doors for us?
Our goal: A clear go-to-market strategy that lets us grow faster and more purposefully.
Your topic: Target markets, pricing, and partners
- Target markets and customers: You compare industries such as apparel, workwear, automotive, medical textiles, and home textiles as well as relevant countries. Using a scoring model, you determine which segments fit ADOTC best and estimate the market size (TAM, SAM, SOM).
- Pricing model: You compare pricing models for Automation-as-a-Service, such as per piece, per cell and month, or tiered pricing. In conversations with customers, you assess willingness to pay and build an ROI calculator that compares our cells with labor costs in each country.
- Sales and partner strategy: You identify partners who give us access to customers, such as system integrators, sewing machine and robot manufacturers, distributors, or brands with their producer networks, and develop suitable partner models based on commission, joint sales, or reference customers.
- Go-to-market plan: You combine the results into a plan with priorities, actions, and KPIs.
Your result: A go-to-market strategy with prioritized target segments, a validated pricing model including an ROI calculator, and a partner concept that our sales team uses directly.
What you bring
- Current studies in economics, business administration, industrial engineering, international management, marketing, or a related field
- First experience with market analysis, strategy, or pricing
- Confident use of Excel and enjoyment of numbers
- Interest in technology and industry, ideally robotics or textiles
- Strong communication skills with customers and partners
- Very good command of English, German is a plus
What we offer
- Bachelor's or Master's thesis, starting immediately, close supervision coordinated with your university
- A topic with direct practical impact: your results flow directly into sales and strategy
- Insight into start-up life and contact with customers and partners from textiles and robotics
- Access to market data, customer inquiries, and the know-how of the team
- A cheerful, creative, and dynamic team with plenty of responsibility
